MTech IN COGNITIVE SYSTEMS

In recent times, findings from Cognitive Science have provided insights in understanding user (humans) behavior and cognitive processes. These have helped in designing better human-computer interfaces and develop tools in areas ranging from facial identification (facial composite systems), recommendations systems, captcha design to identifying pedagogical constraints, better learning strategies, and work environment design (Air traffic control). Cognitive Science also enables development of protocols for identification and rehabilitation of brain and mental disorders as can be seen in Translational Neuroscience. In addition, research in auditory perception has led to improvements in the field of sonification, designing auditory signals, and machine speech recognition. The work done in the field of perception and attention has contributed to game design.

In short, core findings from Cognitive Science now enable us to apply insights to technology development and societal interventions. Opportunities are available in the fields of cognitive computing, natural language processing, design, usability research, pedagogy, human factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), cognitive and behavioral rehabilitation and advertising among others.
