PhD IN COGNITIVE SCIENCE


Prospective candidates interested in the PhD program are required to take the GATE/CSIR/JRF/NET/other equivalent exam in related disciplines

Our program structure is research-intensive, so PhD aspirants are encouraged to identify potential mentors at the time of application. Candidates with a background in cognitive science will take 36 credits of coursework followed by 144 thesis credits. Candidates from other disciplines will take 18 additional course credits. We expect candidates to graduate in about 5 years.

Admission process will consist on written examination followed by an interview. The written exam will test applicants for research aptitude. For a sample test check this link

We solicit applications to our PhD program from curious and creative individuals satisfying any one of the following requirements.


Eligibility Criteria -

  1. an MA/M.Sc/M.Phil/MS/equivalent degree

    • in Cog. Sc./Psychology/Linguistics/Philosophy/Anthropology/Phy/Chem/Math/Stat/Biosciences/related disciplines,
    • with a minimum of 60% or 6.0/10 (grade point average) in the qualifying degree.
    • Should have a valid score/qualification in GATE/CSIR/JRF/NET/other equivalent exam
    • Applicants from CFTIs (centrally funded technical institutions) with a grade point average of 8.0/10 (or equivalent) are exempt from the GATE/CSIR/JRF/NET requirement.

    OR

  2. an M.Tech/ME/MD (any branch) with a minimum of 60% or 6.0/10 (grade point average) in the qualifying degree.

  3. OR

  4. a B.Tech/MBBS/BE (any branch), BS - 4year program ( in Physics/Chem/Math/Stat/Biosciences/related sciences).

    • Applicant must have a minimum of 75% or 7.5/10 in the qualifying degree.
    • Should have a valid score/qualification in GATE/CSIR/JRF/NET/other equivalent exam.
    • Applicants from CFTIs (centrally funded technical institutions) with a grade point average of 7.5/10 (or equivalent) are exempt from the GATE/CSIR/JRF/NET requirement.
